'The other' doesn't exist: such is the rational faith, the incurable belief of the human reason. Identity = reality, as if, at the end, everything should be, absolutely and necessarily, one and the same. But 'the other' doesn't let himself be eliminated: exists, persists; he's the hard chewy bone where reason looses its teeth. Abel Martin, with poetic faith, not less human than the rational one, believed in 'the other', in the 'essential Heterogeneity of Being', in other words in the incurable alterity that affects the 'one'.
