This sculpture takes the form of a large soap slab, with dimensions corresponding to my height and shoulder width. The work is crafted using a quantity of pork fat—chosen for its chemical similarity to human fat—equivalent to the my actual body fat mass.
Soap, as a living and mutable material, undergoes continuous transformation: its surface develops wrinkles and creases over time, responding to changes in humidity, resembling a living “skin.”
Through the process of saponification, I undertake an act of purification and acceptance of a part of myself often stigmatized or rejected by societal standards of beauty. This work stands as a partial self-portrait, embodying precisely twenty-nine percent of my corporeal identity, challenging conventional notions of self and corporeality.
