80AU
80AU is an installation that diffuses mysterious sounds throughout the exhibition space. In this work, the artist has reworked recordings of the electromagnetic waves produced by the planets of the solar system, shifting them to a frequency audible to the human ear. The title refers to the astronomical unit (AU = Astronomical Unit), a measurement commonly used to define distances within the solar system, based on the distance between the Earth and the Sun.
In this piece, sound is used as sculptural material that defines a geography in — and of — space. As in other works, there is a reversal of planes, offering the viewer a different perspective and placing them at the center of a new frame of reference.
