mirrors – series
The Mirrors series represents a fundamental element of my poetics and the research I have been pursuing in recent years, as it explores—both conceptually and visually—some of the central themes in my work: perception, reflection, and the interaction between space, artwork, and viewer. The mirror, with its inherent ability to return a reflected image, has always been an object of fascination and contemplation across all cultures. Everything that allows us to see ourselves confronts us with two possibilities: to withdraw or to remain. The mirror makes us “reflect”—it is a place, more inner than physical, that can be crossed and explored. It reminds us that the eyes, the human tool for sensing the world, are also capable of gazing beyond; they are the “mirror of the soul”, the threshold between the outer and the inner world.
Each work in this series differs in size, shape, and in the phrase engraved on the surface of the mirror, yet they all share a powerful evocative and relational potential. Every mirror invites the viewer to take part in a visual and poetic dialogue, where the reflected image is never final, but constantly transforms according to the setting and the gaze of each person. These mirrors become surfaces of passage, fragments of a personal topography that expands and reshapes itself through shared experience.
Be / Believe #2
You rest in your strong conviction of your personal existence, and in the instinct of the persistence of that existence which is so strong in you as in most men. To me this is as nothing. That my personality is the surest thing I know—may be true.

I am because we are
In Africa there is a concept known as “ubuntu” – the profound sense that we are human only through the humanity of others; that if we are to accomplish anything in this world it will in equal measure be due to the work and achievement of others.

Lonely me / Only me
Solitude and being alone are not the same.
Solitude is loneliness, a flight, a rift—even from yourself;
to be only means to be whole, untouched,
in quiet communion with the universe.

True / False
At the center of the mirror, two words, TRUE and FALSE, are preceded by small checkboxes, evoking the aesthetics of forms to be filled out. The person looking into the mirror is invited to reflect not only on their own image but also on their essence and how it is perceived by others. “True/False” creates a field of tension where surface and depth, truth and appearance are to be reconciled, suggesting that judgment is never completely clear or objective.

Nowhere / Now here
[…] An atheist in the living room had written the phrase: “God is nowhere (nowhere).” One day his child began to read it, but “nowhere” was too long a word. So he split it into two: “God is now here” (‘now here’). […]
In the here and now, you will not find God, but something greater: you will find a divine essence.

Here to be
Here to be invites a meeting with oneself, a pause of awareness in the present moment; it expresses the concept of unconditional existence, without the need to justify oneself through actions or achievements: we are already whole in our being, without having to do anything to deserve our presence in the world.

Resistere o reesistere
To live with honor, one must yearn, be disturbed, fight, err, start over and discard everything, and again begin to struggle and lose eternally. Calmness is cowardice of the soul.
