the domino house
Nothing is truly static. Everything that appears stable carries within it a quiet vibration, an imperceptible tremor, waiting for the moment to reveal itself.
– Haruki Murakami –
The Domino House is a sculpture composed of hundreds of tiles arranged like a domino, following the floor plan of a house. The domino itself holds the inherent idea of an inevitable yet somehow controlled collapse.
This work explores the notion of unstable balance and potential energy. Made of aluminum, the structure echoes the iconic simplicity of modular architecture, reinterpreted in a precarious form that seems on the verge of falling. Each element contains a latent tension, suggesting a constant oscillation between construction and dissolution.
The piece invites dialogue with architectural spaces or transitional places, raising questions about the fragility of human structures, the precariousness of existence, and transforming architectural language into a symbol of impermanence and transition.
